Lecture #2 Sketches

I did my research over Margaret Kilgallen, Karim Rashid, and Ernesto Neto.  I sketched one work for each...

Lecture Sketches # 1

I chose to do my research and paper over Bansky.  Here are sketches of two of his works...

Object to Body Cardboard Contact Lens Case

While making this contact lens case it all went pretty smoothly, even though it did consume all my time, it turned out better than i thought it would.

Front

Back

Kathy made me add on to the back buy creating the two concave spheres like it showed on the original contact lens case.  Im very glad she did because we had to get indepthly critiqued by three judges in front of the whole class; just like American Idol. They were rating us on craftmanship, presentation, and object to body relativity.  Scoring ranged from 0-5; from what I remember I scored 2,3,3.
They said I should have made the lens covers move some how...like put my arms in them.  Which now that I think about it that would have been alot more interesting.
Here is what my presentation looked like:

This critique was very nerve racking....
and I didnt realize how tall it was on my body till I saw these pictures haha.

This cardboard creation has really taught me how to work with cardboard. If I ever become homeless I will definitely know how to create one pretty darn good house to live in!

Dot SQUARED Photo Crit Write Up

Dots
a.) My table said the craftmanship on my dot compositions was clean and percise; darkly colored, no smudges, and nice cuts.
The mounting of my photos on the wall was not clean and percise, I had not realized presentation was such a big thing.  Now i know!

b.) They could all identify what each composition was portraying; proximity, similarity and continuance

Squares
a.) They said my craftmanship on the square compositions for the most part was clean and persise, there were a few smudges from glue here and there.  And that I need to glue the paper better.  But the darkenss of the squares and neatness of the lines was good.

b.) They had a little trouble determining which word went with which picture.  They said my smooth/rough resembled playful/ordered.
They liked the relaxed/anxious the best.

Photos
a.) They said my craftmanship on the photos was great, no blurryness, and good lighting.

b.) Each picture resembled dots as well.

c.)  They said the most interesting was the fish bubble picture.

These Dot and Square compositions are draining me!

P1.1a Final Three Dots

The final 3 dot compositions:

Similarity

Proximity

Continuance

P1.1b Squares

Here are a few thumbnails I sketched up...

And here are the final products...

 Rough/Smooth

Light/Heavy

Relaxed/Anxious

Playful/Ordered

This project was definitely easier to color in than the Dot project, but it was much harder to convey words rather than principles.
